Dr Sara Barnes is a Consultant Physician with expertise in Allergy and Clinical Immunology. She provides comprehensive, evidence-based care for a wide range of allergic and immune conditions, including hay fever (allergic rhinitis), asthma, eczema, urticaria (hives), food allergy, medication allergy, anaphylaxis, and immunodeficiency. She sees patients aged 12 years and older.

Dr Barnes completed her medical degree with Honours at the University of Sydney. She holds a Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP)(Allergy/Immunology and General Medicine) as well as an MBA in Innovation and Design from Deakin University.

She is the Medical Lead/Head of Unit of the  Adult Allergy/Immunology Service at Monash Health, where she helped develop one of Victoria’s largest adult Allergy/Immunology units. The service provides state-level care in venom immunotherapy, drug allergy, and complex immune disorders.

Dr Barnes is a member of the Australasian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy (ASCIA), the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI), and the Clinical Immunology Society (CIS). She previously served on the Board of the National Asthma Council Australia. Her care is thoughtful, personalised, and grounded in best-practice clinical guidelines.

Dr Barnes is now consulting from her private rooms in Melbourne’s northeast, at Yarra Trail Medical offering specialist Allergy/Immunology care in a welcoming and accessible setting.
